Information for new clients
How do I make an appointment?
Simply contact the therapist you would like to work with using the details on their page. If you would like to make a general enquiry to the clinic, please complete the Contact Form via the button at the bottom of the page.
Do I need a GP referral to make an appointment?
You do not need a GP referral to make an appointment with a clinical psychologist. However, without a GP referral, you will be ineligible for Medicare rebates. Some private health funds pay a rebate towards clinical psychology sessions where Medicare is not involved.
What happens when I arrive for my first session?
Ample free parking is available at 1 California Boulevard, Peregian Beach, including disability access parking. You will be able to enter the clinic using a keycode provided to you by your therapist. Upon arrival, please use the iPad on the reception desk to sign yourself in (to alert your therapist that you have arrived).
What are the fees?
Please contact individual clinicians to enquire about their fees. The recommended rate for a psychology appointment in 2022-2023 is $280 per hour. However, many of our clinicians charge below this rate to improve accessibility to mental health services. With a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a rebate of $131.65 per session on therapy sessions, for up to ten sessions in a calendar year. Please note, Medicare rebates usually do not apply to assessments.
What is the cancellation policy?
As a courtesy, confirmation reminders of appointments are sent via SMS. However, sometimes the technology is unreliable, so we encourage all clients to keep a reminder of their appointments elsewhere in order to avoid cancellation fees. Cancellation fees are as follows:
Less than 24 hours’ notice of scheduled appointment: 100% of fee
Within 24-28 hours’ notice of scheduled appointment: 50% of fee
Please note: Medicare, private health and other third parties do not cover cancellation fees. Any outstanding fees will be required to be paid prior to the next appointment.
How long are the sessions?
Therapy appointments are 60 minutes long, with 50 minutes consultation time and 10 minutes note-taking and file review. For assessment appointments, your psychologist will communicate with you regarding length of sessions.
What services do you not provide?
Crisis / Emergency response (please ring 000 or Lifeline 131114 during a mental health emergency).
